Karla touches the lives of people without regard to age, status or “label”. Her parents, perfect with flaws, raised her to be a well spoken, joy spreading, faith walking, kind hearted, humorous lady.
For over thirty years Ms. Karla (as she is so commonly known) has dedicated her life to teaching, leading and inspiring. From children to adults, she addresses audiences as if sitting one on one with them. She speaks with passion, listens with her entire being and has a laugh that is contagious.
Ms. Karla believes everyone can learn to play the piano, all it takes is a patient teacher (just like the one she had) and practice. She is heard saying to each student at the end of their lesson, “thank you for the privilege to teach you piano.” Learning anything is a privilege and should be valued as such.
This has not been a quick journey. She did not just wake up one morning sprinkled with stardust and fairies swirling around her (though she has quite the imagination!). Rather this has been a choice she makes. She has seen great joy, tremendous loss, mountain tops and deep valleys. Yet she chooses to keep on going; striving to make each day better than the last. She experiences failure, but she chooses to get back up with a giggle, tears, or a sigh of “oh my stars''. But...none-the-less...she gets up.
Karla has two adult daughters that are and have been her life. They are successful in their fields, impacting and influencing with their unique talent and beauty.
She often referred to them as tenacious and tantalizing as they were growing-up. She looks at them with a lingering love that reveals the life they gave to her! She also has the new title of “Nana! Her grandson joins her on the quest to enjoy more life moments: peek-a-boo produces a giggle for a limited time, then he actually hides and pops out for a good scare; always hold hands or make sure you run faster than he does; use your words and if all else fails, give hugs and kisses, just to list a few.
She currently resides at The Homestead on the four generation family farm, building Crown & Sparrow virtually. She still calls California home and anywhere her daughters are as well.
